Health & Safety Policy

ALL ACCIDENTS resulting in an injury must be reported in the first instance to the client first aid attendant and safety officer (if available) and all accidents must be reported immediately to Control. A member of the Operations Management team, who may recommend measures to assist, avoiding recurrences, will promptly investigate any accident reported in accordance with the requirements of RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases, and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995). A summary of accident statistics will be provided for the Operations Manager's attention twice yearly.

FIRST AID is obtained quickly by contacting the clients on site first aide facility or, where employees are working alone by contacting Control.

The Operations Manager should carefully assess procedures, which may bring employees into proximity to potentially hazardous areas and substances, and the necessary precautions instituted after consultation with those employee's conditions.

1. INSTRUCTION of employees in safe working practices and the maintenance of those practices are amongst the duties of Supervisors who should also initiate any steps necessary to improve unsafe conditions. This is to include Health & Safety Lone Worker Check Calls to our National Control as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.

2. GOOD HOUSEKEEPING is an essential part of our safety programmed in which everyone must play his or her part. Proper use must be made of storage facilities; waste and scrap disposal facilities and workplaces amenity areas, toilets and wash places must be kept in a clean and tidy condition. Walkways and patrol routes must be clearly defined and kept clear at all times.

3. The Executive Director is responsible to the Board for this policy and its implementation. The Operations Manager/Director/Surveyor shall, on arranging contractual cover at a Client's premises, be aware specifically in consideration of the individual Assignment Instructions appertaining to the individual site. The on-site Supervisor will be responsible for the operation of the instructions as detailed in the Assignment Instructions. He/she shall also be responsible for the issue and control of all protective clothing/equipment. It is his/her responsibility to ensure that the workforce under his/her control are aware and remain aware of all aspects of individual site health and safety as detailed to him/her by all sources.

The Company shall encourage the appointment of safety representatives and a Safety Committee within the terms of the Acts.

Policy

It is our policy to seek to provide safe and healthy working conditions, to encourage safe working methods and to enlist the active support of all personnel employed in achieving these ends.

1. The Company will, as a minimum, aim to:

a. The provision and maintenance of plant and systems of work are safe and without risks to health.

b. Arrangements for use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances used at work are safe and without risks to health.

c. Adequate information is available with respect to articles and substances used at work detailing the conditions and precautions necessary to ensure that when properly used they will be safe and without risk to health.

d. Employees are provided with such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to secure their health and safety.

e. The maintenance of all plant, machinery and equipment is safe, not only to employees and sub-contractors but also to any person who may be affected with regard to any premises or operations under our control.

f. The working environment of all employees is safe and without risks to health and that adequate provisions are made with regard to the facilities and arrangements for their welfare at work.

g. The Health and Safety Policy is reviewed and updated as and when necessary following liaison with our Health and Safety Consultants. Communication of any such changes will be made to all employees.

It shall be the duty of all employees at work: -

a. To take reasonable steps for the health and safety of themselves and of other persons who may be affected by their acts of omissions at work.

b. As regards any duty or requirement imposed on the employer or any other person by or under any of the relevant statutory duties to co-operate with the Company so far as is necessary to enable that duty or requirement to be performed or complied with.
